OUR STORY

Gaita Travel was born from a family experience. As a family, we have travelled around the world, and especially around Colombia. We wanted to share with others our interests, our knowledge regarding travelling across the hidden gems of Colombia.

In order to offer our Travels to you, we have travelled ourselves to all these destinations, seeking for local operators, and helping them strengthen their services and products. We make sure to involve the communities we visit, by providing support in their development. As part of our social engagement, we help are committed to helping the communities benefit from the tourist industry,

THE STORY BEHIND THE NAME

Our name is inspired by the gaita. A traditional wind instrument of indigenous origins, essential in the colombian music culture.

This instrument is built with local materials, and it has been passed on from the pre-columbian indigenous cultures. The Gaita is key to different rhythms of the Atlantic Coast, like Porro, Gaita, Puya, Mapalé and Cumbia.

The gaita is one of the instruments that represent Colombia best, in it’s folklore, culture, music, indigenous traditions and our taste for life. In this sense we believe that it also represents Gaita travel, as we are sure that by exploring Colombia you can enter into contact with these values.
